MCA/GRAD Test Prep classes (class of 2010 and beyond)
The combined MCA/GRAD tests in Writing (grade 9), Reading (grade 10), and Math (grade 11) are given in the spring of each year. GRAD tests are the portion of the MCA tests that determine whether or not a student is eligible to graduate. The MCA writing test is the same as the GRAD writing test.
When students do not pass the MCA/GRAD Reading or Math test on the first try, they take only the GRAD portion of the test online as a retest. During summer session, GRAD test prep classes are available to students who have not yet passed one or more tests. Near the end of summer session 1, students will be given a chance to retest in Reading and Math only, using the GRAD items to qualify for graduation. Each high school will schedule its GRAD retests on a day between July 7-14. The GRAD Writing test will be offered on July 21 at the same site and time as the BST Writing test.
Students who are not sure if they need to take a test prep class should check with their regular school counselor. We expect to offer GRAD test prep classes at all seven high school summer sessions.
