Welcome to ALC Summer Session 2009! It is going to be a fun and exciting learning adventure this year. Students who participate, work hard and are engaged for our intense 3 weeks of classes will be awarded with 3 credits at the end.
We realize that summer should be a time for enjoying the weather and relaxing but if you or your child is behind on credits or has failed parts of the MCA, it is critical that they attend summer session. We have worked hard to develop a high-interest, rigorous curriculum that will improve skills and prepare students for the next grade level.
Students who will be 7th graders in the fall of 2009 should attend their future middle school for summer session. Elementary teachers will alert these students regarding summer session, based on test data.
Students who will be 9th graders in the fall of 2009 should attend their future high school for summer session. These students will be notified and enrolled by their middle school counselors.
Eighth grade students who have not met 80% of their credit requirements will attend OnTrack Summer Session at Harding HS and will have the opportunity to make up enough credits to go to High School with their classmates in the fall.
Students who do not need to make up all 3 credits over summer are allowed to attend summer session for just part of the day but would be responsible for their own transportation if they choose to not stay the whole day.
Additional Community Summer Camps
There are also some community based summer camps, free of charge to St Paul Public school students that are available after ALC summer session ends in July. Information about these camps will be distributed to students sometime in the beginning of May. These camps provide a combination of cultural and academic enrichment for students and would give middle school students .5 credits if they participate.
